IKEA has teamed up with Thai fashion designers at Greyhound Original to create a limited-edition collection created with small spaces in mind
In collaboration with the Thai fashion designers Bhanu Inkawat and Vitchukorn Chokedeetaweeanan at Greyhound Original, IKEA’s newest drop is quirky and effortlessly cool. Born in Bangkok, Greyhound Original was set up in the 1980s and describe their brand as ‘basic with a creative twist’.
The pair, who now sell their clothes in Hong Kong, Shanghai and London are known for their funky prints and unique style – and the homeware items in the collection have been fashioned as such.
Each of the pieces are creative in design and will work well for achieving an eclectic look, while maintaining IKEA’s affordable prices. Here are some of our top picks:
SAMMANKOPPLA Chair cover
Our star of the range is the SAMMANKOPPLA Chair cover. Who would’ve thought putting a jumper on your chair could make it go from boring to vogue? A fun and bold statement – the t-shirt drapes off the chair and has pockets that you can put your phone in. IKEA are encouraging the dressing of chairs with the hashtag #whatdoesyourchairwear.
A nod to the markets of Bangkok, there are South-East Asia style cushions that have been reimagined in black and white – making them perfect for modern living.
And slung on the floor bedside the Thai-style cushion, the round cotton cushions are a great way to add seating options without taking up too much space.
These woven rugs are reversible and add a flavour of Asia to a space. They’re lightweight and easy to clean making them a sound choice for a a well-used room.
SAMMANKOPPLA LED multi-use lighting
A fun multi-use lighting that has been inspired by a bottle. Echoing the brand’s streetwear feel, these are a cool way to make a statement. The long cord (5m) gives you room to play with when deciding where to hang them.
