Over the last decade, a perfectly arranged kitchen has gone from creepy (think Sleeping With the Enemy) to aspirational (Khloe Kardashian’s pantry anyone?). An organised kitchen is now not only practical, but also highly fashionable.

This change in pop-culture came with it’s big influencers; think Marie Kondo sweeping onto the scene in 2014 with her magical method of tidying up and The Home Edit introducing us to dreamy #pantrygoals on Netflix last year. Our social media feeds are a constant wash of neatly organised mason jars and rainbow coloured food boxes. Which is why it comes as no surprise that in a survey of more than 1000 UAE residents, IKEA found that just over half the participants wanted to declutter their homes. One third said they were willing to get rid of unused items in order to improve the look of their space. But how do you achieve an aspirational look in the kitchen whilst still being practical?

One resident who knows a thing or two about getting that Instagram-worthy look is professional organiser and influencer, Salam Shaban from Tidymess. As a KonMari method certified expert, she whips kitchens of the UAE into shape, using affordable products from IKEA in the process.
