After Mrs Hinch turned ‘clean influencing’ from niche to mainstream, watching people clean their homes on social media has become commonplace. If you can get over the fact that the human race now finds joy in watching other people clean, social media is full of great hacks and advice. Naturally, new platform on the scene TikTok, which reaches a younger demographic, has its own branch of cleaning trends under the name ‘CleanTok’. Finding the most viewed cleaning videos, the experts at End of Tenancy Cleaning London share their tips for cleaning like a social media pro:

Cleaning carpets

With #carpetcleaning gaining 490,00,00 views it seems many of us want to know how to get give our carpets a refresh. But how is best to do this without wearing out the fluff? Ivan Ivanov from End of Tenancy Cleaning London says, vacuum and use cleaning sprays once a week to keep them clean. Then every three months, you should then think about hiring a carpet cleaning machine to avoid soaking and damaging the carpet, these are available at most DIY stores.”

Cleaning drains

We know that it’s particularly annoying when you’ve just brushed your teeth and the water refuses to drain, so it’s no wonder that drain cleaning videos have received over 197,600,00 views on TikTok. Ivan advises a two tier approach to tackling pesky drains, for a quick drain clean, put a dishwasher tablet over the top of the plug and run boiling water over the top of it so it dissolves. This should unblock some of the grime and leave it smelling fresh. And to keep it fresh, try to use drain unblocker regularly to get rid of any excess grime.”

Cleaning Grout

Grout grime is a tricky one, especially so in the UAE where a large portion of our homes are cover in tiles. With over 62,100,000 views on TikTok, it seems we’re not the only ones struggling with those niggly cracks. Ivan suggests a homemade solution is your best bet, “by using baking soda, vinegar, and a small grout brush, you can get the dirt out quick. Simply brush baking soda on the grout and make sure it is completely covered. Then spray over the vinegar, brush away and the chemical reaction from the vinegar and baking soda has done the work for you.”

Cleaning ovens

It’s a job that many of us put off, because quite frankly, cleaning the oven is daunting. Daunting enough that videos of people cleaning their cookers have received over 40,000,000 views on TikTok. But Ivan has a hack to make it easier, ” try using your vacuum! This will get rid of any leftover charcoaled bits and crumbs before scrubbing the dirt away. Cleaning the racks in the bath will allow you more space than awkwardly in the sink. By simmering a pan with water, the juice of two lemons and their rinds, you will also be able to scrub away the dirt quickly, due to the steam that has been created.”

Cleaning refrigerators

With hygiene standards here obviously important, a cleaning the fridge is one task you can’t afford to put off, which is probably why videos of people doing this task have gathered over 16,000,00 views on TikTok. When approaching it this chore yourself, Ivan advises to, “remove all shelves and storage units and put the cold food in a cool box. Simply use a hot sponge and soap to clean off any gunk or stains of the shell of the fridge, paying particular attention to where the shelves lie. Then, spray with a multi-purpose cleaner and dry with a cloth. Remember to clean your condenser coils located at the back of the fridge as well. Turn off the fridge and hoover the coils to remove any dust.”
