It’s International Women’s Day and we’re celebrating seven of our favourite local female interior stylists with some of their best tips
Emma Hutton from Emma Hutton Interiors on creating a dreamy garden
“I advise people to put as much effort into the garden as you they do inside, so they have a space to entertain outside. To create an interesting look I recommend using items that you have previously had inside your home. For example I use lamps and ceiling lights outside.”

Ash Young from Adore Decor DXB on designing a bold living space with personality
“Consider any existing pieces you already have, choose a colour scheme and stick to a theme while browsing for additional pieces. When creating a tough-luxe, edgy-elegant look the trick is to keeping to a restrained palette. I generally use three main colours, with two accents.”

Gabby Garvey from Style Me Interiors Dubai on choosing the perfect theme for your kids bedroom
“Start with what your kids are passionate about – this will inspire the theme for their bedrooms.Your interests, as parents, will also influence the design direction. It’s not about sticking to a traditional look, creating a super stylish room or an Instagram-perfect space, but about what the kids like.”

Karen Pissara from Design K on growing a green garden in Dubai
“Consult an expert on the plants that will grow and thrive in your garden, so you know that what you’re spending won’t go to waste. Bear in mind that what works well in one garden may not work in another, so take into account the amount of light and shade you get and whether the garden will be irrigated before making your choice.”

Kym Jackson from Haute Boheme on designing a luxe boho abode
“Paint all the walls in Jotun’s Jazz White – one of my favourite shades – and use lots of natural, tactile materials, such as sea grass rugs and hand-stitched cushion covers to bring home the boho vibe.”

Elena Danici from Three Fifty Four on bringing objects to life in your home
“I like things that don’t match, and I also like to change things up often. When you find something that you love, modify the space to accommodate it. You can even get the family involved with some DIY projects to create something very unique.”

Emilie Jacob from Stella & The Stars on creating a fun and stimulating home office
Get inspired with a bright gallery wall, I recommend affordable online art store Drawdeck to do this. Decorate the space like you would any other room in the house, taking into consideration practicalities but also creating a space that reflects your personality, including adding mementoes, trinkets and framed photos to shelves.
