Loved Tidying Up With Marie Kondo? Then brace yourself for her new show coming to Netflix

Everyone’s favourite organisational expert is making a return to the streaming service with a new series, Sparking Joy With Marie Kondo

Marie Kondo is set to return to our screens with a brand new Netflix series in 2020

As we stay indoors and social distance ourselves from loved ones, it’s essential that we have things to look forward to in the future – eventual holidays and in-real-life lunch catch ups.

But as we pass the time at home (and cheering from our balconies) during the coronavirus pandemic, there are two things we’ll be spending a lot more time doing – binge-watching Netflix and decluttering every cupboard and draw we come across.

But to keep up our spirits for when we’ve made our way through every episode of Tidying Up With Marie Kondo and successfully colour coded our bookshelves, Netflix announced 79 brand new TV shows to look forward to in 2020.

Not least, a whole new series from Marie Kondo – the organisation consultant and author who won over the globe with her 2011 book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing, and the aforementioned Netflix series released in 2019.

Taking to Twitter, the streaming service detailed: “Marie Kondo and her team will set out to tidy up a small American town in the new series, Sparking Joy.”

Kondo, 35, then took to her 3.6 million Instagram followers to divulge more information on the upcoming series. She said: “I have joyful news to share… I am working on a new show with Netflix! My team and I have an ambitious goal of tidying a small town deserving of joy and change.”

Producers are asking viewers to nominate their town to be considered for the show in a lengthy application process. While we’ll certainly be watching from the UAE, applications are only open to towns in the USA at present, with Kondo encouraging viewers to submit their applications at tidymytown.com.

While we’re excited to feast our eyes on the full-town renovation, as applications are still open, this means filming is yet to begin.

So if you’ve already worked your way through eight episodes of Tidying Up With Marie Kondo currently available on Netflix and read all Kondo’s books, then why not put her method to the test with our guide on how to follow the KonMari process?
